St. Matthew’s is a unique project. We were introduced to Robinson Otim, St. Matthew’s founder, by one of our advisory board members. St. Matthew’s was built out of necessity during Covid-19 as many children were unable to attend school. In less than a year, Robinson and his team built a school from the ground up and enrolled more than 100 students. However they lacked quite a few necessities, including water and toilets. With limited time before opening, Ripple stepped in to offer support. We were able to finish the floors in classrooms, dig a shallow well that provides more than 5,000 liters of water per day, and implement water borne toilets instead of pit latrines. This support was in partnership with a Mr. Rich Postler and family. Our plan is to return to St. Matthew’s shortly with additional funding and a longer time table to drill a borehole well that’s capable of producing a much higher quantity of safe clean drinking water for both the school and surrounding community.
We have received funding from our partners at Proctor and Gamble and are returning, as promised, to improve the well output at St. Matthew's Preparatory School.
